All the research I looked at was from gulf coast research laboratory. The big ones can't move as well through the tangle of mangrove roots and vegetation, but the little ones love it. The little ones are a lot more common when fishing inland water like what's in the Everglades. From what I've heard, big tarpon are very hard to find. I think 100 lb average is a little big though. Here is to hoping the new update that is coming out "soon" we will see bigger Tarpon. Though doing a little research after posting this (already knowing Tarpon weigh around 100lbs or more) I found out they are "bottom" feeders and when they reach adulthood they go out to sea but come back to shore/inland to spawn/lay eggs.
